Christmas In Appalachia

We have an opportunity to partner with Appalachian Regional Ministries Director, Bill Barker, in donating shoeboxes filled with gifts for children in the Appalachian Region.  Rev. Barker has identified ministries in ARM that can use the shoeboxes to bless families in need as well as enhance the ministries of missionaries in Appalachia.

Please follow the instructions below to participate in this opportunity:

·         Use an empty shoebox or small plastic container for each child.

·         Determine whether your shoebox will be for a girl or boy.

·         Select an age category:  2-4; 5-9; 10-14

·         Using a Christmas label clearly indicate Boy or Girl and the age category selected.

·         Fill the Shoebox with gifts (See Gift Ideas).

·         Wrap your shoebox or container in Christmas wrapping paper

·         Securely tape the label to the outside of the shoebox/container. 

·         Pray specifically for the child that will receive your gift box. 

·         All shoeboxes must be postmarked no later than December 5 to assure delivery by Christmas

GIFT IDEAS

Please make sure you include a balance of gifts from each category listed below:

 TOYS: small cars, balls, dolls, stuffed animals, kazoos, harmonicas, yo-yos, jump ropes, toys that light up or make noise game toys, puzzles, card games, etc.

SCHOOL SUPPLIES: pens, pencils and sharpener, crayons or markers, stamps and ink pad sets, writing pads or paper, solar calculators, coloring and picture books, etc.

HYGIENE ITEMS: toothbrush, toothpaste, mild bar soap (in a plastic bag), comb, washcloth, etc.

OTHER: Hard candy and lollipops, mints, gum, T-shirts, socks, ball caps, sunglasses, hair clips, costume jewelry, watches, flashlights, etc.  Note:  Please double bag candy items.
