Dr. Lex Bowen
Dr Lex Bowen is our director of missions. Lex is a native of Georgia and his hometown is Dawson. He is a graduate of Mississippi College where he majored in Religion. Lex received his Masters of Divinity from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and his Doctorate of Ministry from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. His ministry experience covers 20 years of pastoring in Oklahoma and Georgia. He served as Church Planter in Singapore for 3 & 1/2 years. To enhance his experience, Lex worked as a Ministry Consultant with the INJOY group (Dr. John Maxwell) and a Church Consultant with LifeWay. Lex has been married to Pam since 1975 and they have two adult children.
Phil Smith
Director of the International Friends English Teaching Ministry. Phil and his wife Linda co-ordinate the work of numerous volunteers who assist in this ministry. They also Minister to the families of those enrolled in the program.
Kara Rebitch
Kara began as Sarepta's Administrative Assistant the first week of February 2007. Kara comes to us with a wealth of experience having served over 17 years in churches as an Administrative Assistant. She is a native of Pennsylvania but she and her husband Tony have lived in the Athens area since 1995. Tony is employed with Pilgrim's Pride. They have been married since 1981. They have three children, Justin-a graduate of Georgia Southern University in Sport Management-Justin is the Athletic Program Director for the Barrow County Recreational Department; Amanda-married to Chris Huffman and they have an 1 year old daughter named Bailey; Amanda is a student at the New Orleans Baptist Seminary Extension in Atlanta majoring in preschool and children's ministry, and Alex-a sophmore at UGA with a double major in International Affairs and Journalism.
Betty Johnson
Secretary and Records Keeper. Betty has served Sarepta since 1988. She handles data entry and mailings that are done on the part of the association.
Emily Fleming
Financial Secretary and Church Financial Consultant. Emily has been with Sarepta since 2000. A native of Gainesville, GA, she has lived in Athens for over 25 years, currently residing on a farm in southeastern Clarke County with her husband, Frank, and two children, Anna, who is a junior at Belmont University in Nashville, TN, and Nelson, who is a sophmore at Athens Academy. Emily has a M.A. in English from UGA, and has been trained as a financial consultant with the Georgia Baptist Convention.
